Good Man Retires

December 20, 2017 – Long Island –

Caleb Smith State Park is one of the Jewels of Long Island trout fishing and it has been managed by one dedicated professional for the last 27 years – Clarence Ware (a life-time member of TU). The time has come for him to wet a line and enjoy himself.  And so the “Era of Clarence” is about to pass into the history books.

Clarence Ware receives plaque from LITU Board – Pete Harris, Joe Pepe, Chris Aigner on Right and Peter Dubno on left.

He has been a friend to all trout fishers and especially to Long Island Trout Unlimited and the Long Island Fly Rodders;  to all the adults and youths who passed through the fishing programs and casting clinics held during his watch as well as to all of us fishers who have enjoyed the park over these past 27 years.

Just want to say thanks Clarence for being my friend and for being so accommodating in our mission to conserve, protect and restore the cold water streams of Long Island.

Clarence Ware, Manager of Caleb Smith State Park for 27 years retires.

See you when I get down to the Carolina’s – looking forward to some of that Cherokee hospitality.
