October 6 – Friday – Northport –
Mike and Jason out for some Blackfish. The season just opened and they had crabs, green ones, and clams. It was almost high tide as we left the harbor so we threw plugs at the Condo Wall and then Centerport. Mike had a hit but that was it.
Yesterday the fleet was all just north of the oil platform. Today they are spread out from Buoy 13 to 11b. I take them to my spot by 11b – I like it for blues, bass and blackfish. We anchor on top of the rock pile and the tide begins to turn.
Mike has a nice Black Sea Bass on his first drop and we all had fish from then until mid-tide when the bite turned off. Blackfish, Sea Bass, Porgies and an ugly little fish that I will have to look up. Nothing of keeper size but lots of action.
A good day to be out there with the guys and a few fish.
Next time maybe we get a keeper?
