An opportunity to give back!
Calling all those who love or have fished, or hiked, or even driven by Connetquot River State Park – You can volunteer to help!
Richard from the Idle Hour Fly Fishers let me know that they are going to help clear small brush & branches from the upper river trail on “I Love My Park Day” Saturday, May 7th.
Staff from Connetquot and other parks have been tasked with cutting-up and removing the big stuff left by the those who cut down beetle-infested pines but there is plenty of small stuff to be worked on as well.
Register in advance or just show up at 8 AM on Saturday May 7th.
Many hands make light work. Anyone interested in helping-out should bring loppers, pruners, a bow saw, etc. and wear work gloves and waterproof boots, as the river has been overflowing banks along the trail.
Why not get a few friends together and make a day of it?
You can also help out at Caleb Smith State Park if you prefer.
Check here to see what other parks around NYS are doing on May 7th.
